Murat Polat wins with a Big KO!

On friday 12th November at ‘The Ritz’ nightclub in Manchester, Undefeated UCC Featherweight champion Murat Polat fighting out of Evade, Hadfield, won in spectacular fashion with a devastating 1st round Ko of Iridas Petras from Antonios Gym.

Murats intended opponent Brendan Loughnane of Stockport Fighters, pulled out late notice on the Tuesday claiming he was injured. So the UCC offered Murat the option to take on Iridas at a catchweight of 71k, with Murat not wanting to let down his supporters, he agreed to take the match.

Well all can be said is while this match lasted it had more action and emotion than all the other matches on the show, Murat went across to touch his opponents glove as a sign of respect, only to have Iridas nail Murat with a punch, then attack with a blitz of wild, hurtful punches catching Murat clean dropping him to one knee, Murat sprung straight back up and got involved in a tear up of hard punches.

Murat then shot in and picked up Iridas who grabbed the top of the cage to stop himself from being slammed down, the referree pulled his hand free and Murat got a massive take down, however Iridas immediately got back up showing his experience, Murat kept hold and slammed him down again, climbed to full mount and attacked with punches, but Iridas like earlier had other plans and sprung back up!

Here they traded hard punches again, but Murat had got his composure back and started to land the cleaner harder strikes, then ‘Bam’ a big left hook wobbled Iridas, Murat as usual went in to finish and landed one heck of right straight to put Iridas completely out of the match.

A massive win against a game and extremely dangerous opponent, Murat showed why he’s a champion!

Much speculation is now surrounding Murats match against Brendan for next year, however Murat has never agreed to fight Brendan in March, this was put forward by the UCC without asking our team first, comments were made stating that the match had already been agreed, but we hadn’t even been asked!

Murat had previously agreed to compete in February in an 8 man tournament, more details to follow!
